AI Automation for SAP PP

A paperless shop floor, confirmed straight into SAP.

Your operators fill out time tickets and confirmation slips by hand — then someone keys them into SAP hours or days later. Artificio captures those shop-floor documents and posts them as SAP production-order confirmations automatically: time, quantities, scrap, and the goods movements that go with them.

The problem with paper on the floor

The shop floor still runs on paper. SAP finds out later.

On most floors, operators record what they did — hours worked, good and scrap quantities, operations completed — on paper tickets and travelers. Those slips get collected, batched, and typed into SAP by an admin at the end of a shift or the next morning. Until then, SAP is out of date: production orders look unconfirmed, WIP is wrong, capacity and scheduling run on stale numbers, and payroll or costing waits on a keypunch backlog. Artificio removes the keypunch step entirely — the paper still works for operators, but it flows into SAP PP as confirmations automatically.

Shop-floor document → SAP action

Every slip becomes the right SAP posting.

Artificio recognizes what a shop-floor document is and posts the matching SAP PP transaction against the production or process order. Time, quantities, scrap, and goods movements flow into SAP as confirmations automatically, without the need for a specialist to key them in.

The confirmation

One slip. A complete, validated PP confirmation.

Artificio doesn't just read the ticket — it builds the full confirmation SAP expects. It matches the order and operation, applies your yield and scrap logic, triggers the backflush and goods receipt, and posts it all as one clean confirmation against the production order.

Operators keep working the way they always have. Planners and supervisors get an SAP that reflects the floor in near real time — accurate WIP, order progress, and cost.

What changes

A floor that reports itself.

Removing the keypunch step doesn't just save admin time — it changes what everyone downstream can see and trust.

For operations

Real-time order status

  • Confirmations minutes after the slip, not next day
  • Accurate WIP and order progress
  • Scheduling on current data
  • No end-of-shift keypunch backlog
For finance & costing

Accurate order costs

  • Labor & machine time captured correctly
  • Scrap and yield reflected as they happen
  • Cleaner variance analysis
  • Fewer month-end corrections
For the admin team

The keypunch job disappears

  • No manual data entry of slips
  • Only exceptions to review
  • Legible or not, the AI reads it
  • People redeployed off data entry

Why Artificio

No MES rollout. No terminals on every machine. Just the paper you have.

The usual ways to get the floor into SAP are a heavy MES/MDE project or barcode terminals at every station — big cost, long timelines, and change management. Artificio automates the paper trail you already run, so you get a paperless-to-SAP floor without re-equipping it.

Running ECC?

SAP's new AI is cloud-only. Your procurement team doesn't have to wait.

Joule and SAP Business AI are reserved for RISE and S/4HANA Cloud. If you manage vendor master data on ECC or a hybrid landscape, Artificio brings modern AI onboarding to the system you have today — and carries the same workflows forward when you migrate.

Implementation

Live in weeks — no SAP core changes, no new hardware.

Artificio connects through standard SAP interfaces, so there's no ABAP development and nothing to install on the floor.

Week 1

Connect SAP PP

Secure connection via OData / RFC. Read access to production orders, operations, and work centers — no core changes.

2
Week 2

Map your slips

No model training. Point Artificio at your time tickets and confirmation slips and set yield, scrap, and backflush rules.

3
Week 3

Pilot on a line

Run real slips from one line or work center in parallel. Supervisors review every confirmation before it commits.

4
Week 4

Roll out

Switch on straight-through confirmation across lines; exceptions route to supervisors, explained.

For SAP teams

Confirmations posted through standard SAP interfaces — no screen-scraping.

Artificio posts production-order confirmations through the interfaces your SAP team already trusts: OData, BAPI (BAPI_PRODORDCONF_CREATE_TT), and RFC — no custom ABAP and no changes to your PP configuration. It reads live order, operation, and work-center data before it confirms, applies your backflush and auto-GR settings, and writes a full audit trail on every posting. Works with discrete, process (BAPI_PROCORDCONF_CREATE_TT), and repetitive manufacturing (BAPI_REPCONF_CREATE_TT).

A manufacturer replaced end-of-shift keypunch with Artificio: operators still fill out their time and confirmation slips, but the slips now post to SAP PP as confirmations within minutes. Planners see accurate order status through the day, costing stopped chasing missing confirmations, and the admin team moved off data entry.

Questions ops & SAP teams ask

Answers before the demo.

Can it really read handwritten time tickets?

Yes. Artificio uses a vision AI model that reads handwriting and any slip layout, then validates what it reads against the SAP order before posting. Low-confidence or unusual entries route to a supervisor for a quick review rather than posting blindly — so accuracy stays high even with messy slips.

What SAP transactions does it post?

Production-order time and quantity confirmations (CO11N / CO15-style), operation confirmations from travelers, and the associated goods movements — component goods issues, backflush, and finished-goods receipts. It supports discrete, process, and repetitive manufacturing, configured to your PP setup.

Do we need an MES or terminals on the floor?

No. That's the point — Artificio automates the paper slips you already use, so you get a paperless-to-SAP floor without an MES rollout or barcode terminals at every station. No new floor hardware and no capital project.

Does it work with SAP ECC?

Yes — on ECC 6.0 today via OData and RFC, and on S/4HANA. You don't need to migrate to modernize the floor, and the same workflows carry forward when you do.

Does anything confirm to SAP without review?

You decide. Clean, in-tolerance confirmations can post straight through, or you can require supervisor sign-off on any line, operation, or exception type. Every confirmation is logged with a full audit trail.

Does it require ABAP or PP re-configuration?

No. Artificio connects through standard interfaces (OData, BAPI, RFC) and posts confirmations using your existing PP configuration — no custom ABAP and no changes to your production order or routing setup.
